ANU Alumna Joy Tari-Bagshaw Wins Ghana AI Innovation Challenge with Maternal Health Startup

All Nations University is incredibly proud to celebrate our alumna, Joy Tari-Bagshaw, for her remarkable achievement as Co-Founder and Business Lead of Omaya Care, an AI-powered maternal health startup building proactive postpartum care for African mothers.

Joy and her team were recently named the Overall Winner of the Ghana AI Innovation Challenge at the 2026 Ghana AI Summit & Awards, earning GHS 25,000 to accelerate the development of their solution.

Omaya Care is addressing a critical gap in maternal healthcare: the period after a mother leaves the hospital. Through proactive voice calls and WhatsApp, Omaya enables healthcare teams to continue checking in with mothers, identify potential risks earlier, and escalate cases requiring further clinical attention.

As Business Lead, Joy has played a key role in shaping the venture's partnerships, business strategy, customer discovery, and engagement with healthcare stakeholders. Her journey reflects the power of combining technology, entrepreneurship, and a deep commitment to solving real-world challenges.

This achievement is a testament to Joy's growth as a builder and leader, and to the impact that young African innovators can create when technology is grounded in the realities of the communities they serve.
